Our faculty member from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Ibn Haldun University, Assist. Prof. Ahmet Yusuf Özdemir, has authored a chapter titled “Border Disputes and Terrorism in Africa” in the book Emerging African Geopolitics, published by Cambridge Scholars Press. In this chapter, Özdemir delves into the issue of state sovereignty, territorial borders, and the political challenges arising from border disputes and terrorism, particularly in the African context.
Özdemir also emphasizes that the 1648 Peace of Westphalia laid the foundations of the modern state system, highlighting how crucial borders and state sovereignty still are in today's international relations. On the other hand, he provides comprehensive analyses of the challenges posed to states by border conflicts and terrorism threats in Africa.
This significant contribution provides an in-depth perspective on security issues in Africa.
