Ibn Haldun University Political Science and International Relations Department Head Assoc. Prof. Ali Aslan's article titled “Strategic Autonomy in Turkish Foreign Policy: Defense or Offense?” was recently published in Comparative Strategy, a respected journal in the field.
In the article, Assoc. Prof. Aslan critically examines Turkey's evolving foreign policy since 2016 and emphasizes the country's shift toward strategic autonomy. Moving beyond traditional alliances, the study explores Turkey's nuanced approach to maintaining and expanding its sovereignty in an increasingly complex international arena. Professor Aslan’s work addresses key questions about Turkey’s strategic positioning and the balancing act between defensive and offensive tactics in response to regional and global pressures.
